I pre-ordered this book pretty last minute. I heard of it and I kept the title in the back of my head, but only quite close to the release I decided I wanted to read it ASAP. (Thank the amazing ladies on Booktwitter with their contagious hype!!)

I went into this book only knowing a thing or two about how a certain kind of fever gave people magical abilities and the characters were all queer. But I quickly learnt this book is about so much more than that. It is about people seeking refuge from the lethal fever, about racism and discrimination to said group, corrupted governments, people with magic seen as better than others and a protagonist from the mentioned minority group, fighting for himself…
