Although not much of the Gedi ruins can be found here, the museum also takes one on the Swahili culture ride. Excavations of the site in the late 1940s and early 1950s unearthed remains of numerous domestic, religious and commercial structures.

Aside from that, picturesque portrait ruins of Jumba la Mtwana found in Mtwapa, Mosque at Mnarani and Kongo mosque are worth adding to the bucket list.

Nestled in the 45 acres of original forest, finds from the site include imported Chinese and Islamic porcelains, glass and shell beads, gold and silver jewelry plus coins. Local pottery finds make up the majority of finds which include vessel used for cooking and storage.
