Yes, 14.
Because 15 would make too much sense.

1. The 1-800-Where-R-You series by Meg Cabot

The 1-800-Where-R-You series is one of my FAVORITES! I have been reading these books once a year for YEARS. I don’t think I will ever tire of them.

The series follows Jess Mastriani, a teenage girl who has a pension for hitting arrogant guys in the face and landing in detention.

A true hero, if you ask me.

On her way home from school one day, she is struck by lightning. The next day she discovers that she…

Chilean Buteo~

cindy knoke's avatarCindy Knoke

Whose fixed his fine eyes on you?

A Chilean buteo, thats who!

Buteo is a general term that includes all gliding raptors. This guy came to call and stayed with me for a spell, in Valparaiso Chile.

I think, but am not sure, that he is a Swainson Hawk.

He might also be a Rufous Tailed Hawk, which is a rarer, southern version, of the North American Red Tailed Hawk. The rufous is a threatened species.

If anyone can help with identification, I would be most grateful and will post the clarification.

All I know is that he is a gorgeous buteo from Chile who hung out with me much closer and longer than Holler hawks ever do!

Cheers to you from Chile’s friendly hawks~

Little Creepers

There was a campaign on Twitter, authors were looking for reviews for their books and this is one of the books I jumped at the chance to review. So I need to say: I recieved this ebook free in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis from GoodReads

“Fear isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always scream or announce itself with a loud thud on the closet door. Sometimes it creeps, slithers and crawls.Sometimes it’s waiting in the shadows, whispering as you pass by.These stories may not scare you, but one or two whispers may just burrow into the back of your brain. They may make you shiver at night and consider, for just a moment, that maybe you left the front door unlocked and maybe those were footsteps you heard inside. Little Creepers contains 14 short stories, written by Jessica Walsh, meant to creep and crawl up your spine.”

My thoughts

That…

Crimson’s Creative Challenge #26 – Battlements

bunker-cliff-1

My aged companion Crisp was standing at the kitchen table, map spread out before her, pen in hand and was circling something which I assumed would be our day’s activity.

“Battlements,” she announced, “three ks from here and on the bus route. Get your boots on we can take our lunch in our backpacks and be back for the evening happy hour at the pub.”

We arrived at the beginning of the walking trail and set off.

Before long the way got tough, vines were growing over the trail and Crisp was not happy at being held up.

Being a lady of some refinement she wasn’t one to swear and curse, but the vines did get the better of her, and a few choice expletives seemed to send the message the vines had best behave or else.

Huffing and puffing we arrived, and a satisfied Crisp stood in front so…

Thursday photo prompt: Rooted #writephoto

Roots

Spread like

Waking dreams

Softly flowing

Kaleidoscope greens

Each a wish or a scheme

Flowing from us like a stream

Our canopies brightly adorned

Loves celebrated, loves lost mourned

Secrets, dark and light, forces of god’s light.

You have no idea what I have seen

Winters white, golden light, Spring leaves green

You tie your colours to my boughs

Hoping I will heal your ills

You do not understand

Nature’s true power

Older than time

Reason, rhyme

Spread like

Roots.
