It appeared from above, an amazing feat of parking.

Nestled snuggly between the trees

As if dropped strategically into place.

The vegetation had stepped back, swaying out of the way

Making a space, welcoming it to earth.

But from ground level, it was a different story

The plane’s canopy was intact,

Creating an illusion of all being well

The undercarriage though was spread throughout the forest

Littering the landscape with metal and people bits

No chance of survival,

Some still strapped in their seats.

All that was left to do was gather up the pieces.

Chocorua in early August

Sometimes the spirits of the land study you before you are allowed to study them. Their secrets held inside the membrane of earth and stone until you have proven yourself worthy of receiving.

Before we left that morning, I sealed acceptance into my aura. There was the knowing that I would be given what I needed to receive and perhaps not all that I yearned for. There is no rushing the land and its protectors, but a grateful, open-heart is always accepted.

I had met Chocorua over the winter, when I had turned a bend in the road and found myself faced with its head of stone, balded in patches of white from the snow, looming before me. It was one of those moments when the body defies words. My daughter looked at me, and I at her, with the same knowing. Someday, I would return…

Lechones Whipping Up the Crowd

     The dog days of summer usually bring some of the hottest days the city has seen. That heat was surpassed when the Dominicans took over 6th Avenue and brought their  fast paced merengue music blasted over some amazing custom designed cars and  SUVs. This is the 37th year the parade celebrates all things Dominican with hundreds of thousands happy revelers. As usual with most parades, the mounted police signaled the start of the parade. Parade organizers led the way with invited guests and politicians. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, of NY’s 13th Congressional district that serves many Dominicans living in upper Manhattan and the Bronx. He was joined by the top law official of NYS, Attorney General Leticia James. Once all the politicians made their way up the parade route, then the fun began.

So I’ve been sick the last couple of days and taking on-line quizzes including which Avenger would you start a book club with…

I got Wanda which was a yeah for me because she’s one of my top 5 Marvel characters. But that got me thinking: fantasy book clubs and who else would be in mine 🙂 And surprisingly I didn’t just stack it with you know, David Harbour, Jason Momoa and Tom Hardy it’s legit about the books!

A few days after we moved to the new abode my hubby and I took a stroll around the duck pond. I had to take my camera with me (of course) and got a few shots of the ducks that were swimming about. Here are the results.
