June 11, 2019 The Fruit-Bearing Christian “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.” (Philippians 4:17) The apostle Paul here was commending the Christians at Philippi as the only church that had sent an offering to help defray his expenses on his missionary trips. He calls such gifts “fruit” that would abound to their “account” (Greek logos, probably better rendered as “testimony”). Thus, God considers gifts of money to scriptural ministries to be like life-giving fruits on a healthy vine. There are other types of fruits that a Christian life can produce. Paul regarded those he had helped lead to Christ as fruits. He wrote to the Christians at Rome: “I purposed to come unto you .. . that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles” (Romans 1:13

We can’t grow peonies at The Holler, but I buy them in season,

to display in bouquets.

I remember when my dad  was in the hospital, he used to say how much he liked their food. And I would think to myself, “Must be the drugs they gave him.” I recently spent four days in the same hospital my dad stayed. So I got to eat quite a few of the same meals there myself. None of my meals were outstanding or deserved rave reviews like my dad gave them. But the one thing they had in common was they were comforting. Comfort foods, like meatloaf and mashed potatoes or roasted chicken.  Foods that made you feel better being alone in a strange place and stuck in a strange bed for whatever scary health reason you are there.  So maybe that’s why my dad raved so much.  I have no idea what this has to do with my Swedish meatballs and noodles recipe, but I do consider…

Today is the last of my travel report on this blog. I will keep writing on my Earning My Disney PhD blog about all our adventures and the pictures of our Disney trip.

We are well into Summer, and I thought it was time again for a book promotion party!
