Lord, I am afraid

Musings&Roses's avatarMUSINGS and ROSES

“For the Lord your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.”

Zephaniah‬ ‭3:17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I am afraid of what the future holds. How life will unfold months to come, heck!, I have not the slightest clue what will happen the next minute.

Things are not going as I have planned. I have hit a rough patch and stones of diverse adversity are hurled at me from different directions. I am unsure whether it is a chapter in my story I have to relive but I am going to trust you regardless to write a glorious ending.

Lord, I am afraid, I crave stability, I long for peace and seek clarity. Where do I go from here? What do I do next? I…

When pain comes calling

Musings&Roses's avatarMUSINGS and ROSES

“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy.

For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”‭‭

James‬ ‭1:2-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

At a time in my journey, I lost something very dear to me, It devastated me because nothing made sense. I didn’t understand and it cut deeply. Comfort seemed far away.

But looking back now, I see how God converted it and used it as building blocks for my strength and shock absorber.

I developed a new mind and a stronger spirit. Now, I let people walk away and not for one moment will it faze it because the fact is, anyone who will stay will stay. The doors God wants opened unto…

9 reasons why God allows trials and tribulations

Musings&Roses's avatarMUSINGS and ROSES

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 NLT

One of the most important part of being a Christian is knowing that it does not make us immune to life’s troubles and struggles.

As Christians, God never promised us a hitch-free ride all the way. In fact, the scripture says, many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers them from it all. It is easy for us to question the goodness and greatness of God when things go awry.

You can still be doing things right and suffer.

Therefore, those who are ill-treated and suffer in accordance with the will of God must [continue to] do right and commit their souls [for safe-keeping] to the faithful Creator.

Are you truly serving God?

Musings&Roses's avatarMUSINGS and ROSES

The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: “If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?” But the good Samaritan reversed the question: “If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?”Martin Luther King Jr

I figure your impulsive response will be , Yes. Of course. I am.

But,

What if there is more to serving God beyond professing Him as our Lord and Saviour and attending church services?

According to a scripture, those who call upon the name of the Lord must worship God in Spirit and in truth. Let’s break this down.

What does it mean to worship him in truth? Simply put, to be an embodiment of His word in this world. We all desire The crown of righteousness but guess what, it comes with the cross of Christ attached.

To actually be…

Music Challenge #32: “Moon River” sung by Audrey Hepburn #musicchallenge #amwriting #MLMM

This week’s song is an ionic song performed by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and various singers since.Frank Sinatra sings it, and there are some fascinating modern remixes. However, Hepburn’s version of “Moon River,” as the song is written for her character, is not easily outdone. Neither is Hepburn’s grace and elegance as an actress (and person).

The late Amy Winehouse, however, performed a jazzyupbeat version of “Moon River” at only 16yearsold, if you’re searching for a recent version sung well.

Music Challenge #31: “Killing Me Softly” – The Fugees #amwriting #musicchallenge #MLMM

Mandibelle16's avatarMindlovemisery's Menagerie

Happy Friday and another week of Music Challenge. There are many versions of “Killing Me Softly,” perhaps a most notable one by Frank Sinatra, but I grew up knowing it through the Fugees. I’ll leave you a couple of videos to listen to this week. I think the diverse versions of the song inspire different perspectives.

(Ihave to apologize for the odd formatting. My WordPress app updated this week and is now clumping all my writing together in one huge paragraph, unless I separate it with page stops. So, if anyone knows how to fix this I’d be grateful!)

Mandibelle16's avatarMindlovemisery's Menagerie

Today, I’m feeling like some music a bit quirky and fun. This song by Nancy Sinatra struck me as the perfect fit for this week’s Music Challenge. So, I hope you enjoy it and our glimpse back to popular music in 1966, when the original broadcast of Nancy’s song aired on TV.

“Nancy Sandra Sinatra (born June 8, 1940), is an American singer and actress. She is the elder daughter of Frank Sinatra and Nancy (Barbato) Sinatra.”

“As well, Nancy spent many years in piano, dance and dramatic performance lessons, along with attending voice lessons. In the late 1950’s, Nancy studied music, dancing, and voice at the U of CA. She dropped out after a year, making her professional debut in 1960 on her father’s television special “‘The Frank Sinatra Timex Show: Welcome Home Elvis.'”

Music Challenge Badge

This Rolling Stones song was written by Keith Richards and Mick Jagger and it was released in 1966 on their Big Hits (High Tide And Green Grass) album.  ‘19th Nervous Breakdown’ went to #1 in the UK and it reached #2 on the US charts, spending three weeks behind Nancy Sinatra’s ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin”.  On the Billboard Hot 100, by a remarkable coincidence, the single also spent three weeks at No. 2 in March and early April 1966, beaten only by Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler’s ‘The Ballad of the Green Berets.’  ‘19th Nervous Breakdown’ came in at #62 on the Billboard Year-End Hot 100 chart for 1966.  Incidentally, ‘The Ballad of the Green Berets’ was the top song and ‘These Boots Are Made For Walkin” came in at #13 for the year.

The title describes how Mick Jagger felt during a US tour in 1965, concerning his…
