Feeling (slightly) refreshed from my ‘time off’ the previous day, we decided to take in another couple of small fells, which actually turned into three.

We drove past Brownrigg Farm, between Matterdale End and Dockray and found a spot which had just enough space for three carefully parked cars. Great Mell Fell was a very pretty climb, completely safe for a novice walker or child. Quite a variety of landscapes; trees interspersed with open fell.

With that one tucked under our belts, it was necessary to return the same way. Walking distance between Great Mell and Little Mell was 4.7 miles according to the map, however as this would have meant retracing our steps to collect the car, we drove.
