A to Z: 2019… Reflection Post

While it’s extremely hectic during the April A to Z as you hop around discovering new blogs, my reflection post will now give me time to go back and discover all I’ve missed. I managed to write all my A to Z posts before April 1st this year… as we travel during this month… which leaves me only to quickly edit each night. While this made it less hectic and stress free, but like always… on the last day I felt sad in having no more daily postings!
I’m sure I’ve probably missed logging a few blogs here that I visited… and I do apologize… it was such a hectic month of writing, reading and trying to keep up with blog sites I visited… sometimes the mind just loses track. Hopefully on the reflection posts, I’ll discover even more that I missed. Now my…

April Outfit Round Up
Outfit posts have always been my favourite – we all know I can waffle till the cows come home and ranting about public transport or the weather seems to be a particular skill of mine – but it was style and fashion that led me to start my humble little blog and it still remains a major passion. Sadly though, what with this growing another human, trying to get our house in order for it’s arrival, nailing the final bits of learning to drive and trying to be a general girl boss at work, finding the time to do some proper outfit shoots has been challenging. It’s not impossible, of course, and I’m busy editing some shots to bring you some posts all about how I’m finding maternity dressing very soon, but I realised recently that while the pages of this blog have been missing sartorial content lately, I’ve been…

I Can’t Tell a Lie

- What did the couch say to the toilet? Be grateful, I have him sprawled out all over me for hours at a time, you just have him briefly on you once or twice most days.
- What caused the last traffic jam in town? The UFO landed smack down in the middle of the intersection.
- What really powers the Internet? There are little girls and boys that rub two sticks together to keep it powered.
- What is really between Trump’s ears? A lot of hot air.
- What is in the heart of Africa? Frozen margaritas.
- What was the last meal eaten in the Garden of Eden? Tacos.
- Who built the pyramids in the Yucatan? Aliens.
- What is the highest form of flattery? Saying to someone, You’re the stupidest person on earth.
- Speakeasies were not secret bars, what were they? Where one was sent to when they needed a time out from…

2019: 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks –
Week 18 (April 29 – May 5): Road Trip
I “first” joined Amy Johnson Crow’s 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks on its “first” year in 2014… and what a whirlwind year that was… writing, editing and researching daily for 365 days! As much as I wanted to continue the following year, I found that I didn’t have the time to continue another year with that type of research… although I did continue blogging and writing stories at my own pace, which allowed me to write on other topics as well as family stories when ideas came my way… but I’ve often missed it. The first year were no specific weekly prompts like today… but I’m taking a different spin on them. There will be some posts on a specific ancestor, but most will be memories that spring from those prompts. Head over to

A Walking Miracle
As many of you know, my husband has been hospitalized since early February. During my time here in the city I have met many people struggling with various health concerns. One story stands as a testament to hope, faith, and the indomitable human spirit and will to live.
I would never have guessed when I met her. Betty is a bubbly, upbeat, and joyous human being. She loves to laugh and enjoys making others laugh with her. Her sense of humour his quirky and contagious.
There were three of us standing around chit-chatting and telling one another our stories of how we came to be at the hospital. Betty was here supporting her husband of forty-four years. It wasn’t until we had each exchanged our tales that the subject of close calls came up and Betty told us her story.
She was driving when she suffered a brain aneurysm. Slumped…

A Prayer for Holy Openness
O Divine One
It is You I seek, and this I ask:
Please gift me with an open mind, an open heart,
And with open hands to receive Your blessings
Let my eyes behold, as Yours do
All the wondrous miracles
That each human being embodies
Let my ears hear, as You hear,
The song in each and every human heart
Grant me a spirit that loves all ways, always
Help me understand myself, forgive myself
And through sacred insight
Have understanding and compassion
For all others
Oh, Divine One
It is You I seek
Let me see in each face, Your face
Let me ….
Gift me please
With holy openness
