Drizzle

krittica bh's avatarshots of thoughts

Getting lost in the clouds… that floats in places.. where limitless impediments gaze upon you… the cool breeze blowing through the soul…not a speck of blue… the infinite garden of clouds you get lost in…. never seemed more whiter…the soothing cold and the calming damp…what you feel is a relief but a hoax in your industry is what the reality is…the drizzle of rain smearing your day with one too many dozes….pitter patter so it goes on…. and you look out the window…. the never ending horizon is an abstract art….soft clouds brushing with the sound of a rumble in a portrait of stillness…green mountains seem to like the serene clothing of cold and moist fog….the tranquility is never enough though…. a rainy day…. quite a poet’s day or an indolent’s….but for a lad wanting to turn the wheels on…it is a spiritually fruitful day…all the while being slothfully gay

Herbed Watercress Pistachio Salad

Gail's avatarsnapshotsincursive

What’s Cooking in Gail’s Kitchen? Fab Foodstuff: Herbed Watercress Pistachio Salad! Everyone knows leafy greens can supercharge your diet. But not everyone is crazy about kale and arugula. Ask my husband. The strong pungent flavors of the former can step aside, as far as I’m concerned. Watercress is the new sheriff in town. Its delicate leaves reveal a slight hint of horseradish or wasabi, but with a crispier texture. To combat the bitter tang, simply add a nice citrus fruit along with the ancient royal pistachio nut. Did you know the Queen of Sheba found pistachios so delightful, she declared it was forbidden for commoners to harvest pistachio nuts for themselves? Alas, I digress. Watercress is the star attraction. Rich in vitamins, iron, calcium, and folic acid, its roots thrive in creek bottoms where clear running water encourages natural growth. Most farmers cultivate it in very wet ground providing constant…

Deviled Egg Salad

koolaidmoms's avatarWhat's for Dinner Moms?

I needed a dish to go with our Hawaiian Burgers (click for link to recipe) and my children do not like salads with mayonnaise. I love classic macaroni and potato salads with mayo. So, the trick became how do I get my children to eat this. I go back to when they are little kids. They wouldn’t eat quesadillas but they would eat Mexican grilled cheese. I needed to change the name! They love Deviled Eggs and it became Deviled Egg Salad.

Verdict:

My kids love Deviled Egg Salad. Made the salad the same way I would make deviled eggs and just added macaroni to it. They both said how much they liked this salad. I tried not to laugh but it worked!

A Complete Guide To Fenghuang: The Ancient Phoenix Village in China

WELCOME TO CHINA

rachelmeetschina's avatarRachel Meets China

Fenghuang is a well-preserved traditional village in the western Hunan province. Also called the Phoenix Ancient Town, Fenghuang is a fantastic place to visit for a long weekend trip or a stop-by on your way through Hunan.

I first heard about this city my first year teaching in China – my university students always told me it was one of the most beautiful places in China, and I finally had the chance to see what they meant.

With beautiful riverside buildings, old temples, traditional Miao culture, picturesque mountain surroundings, and an amazing night-time atmosphere, there’s so much to see in this little town!

HOW TO GET TO FENGHUANG

There are no trains to Fenghuang – only buses. You can take a bus from Zhangjiajie, Changsha, Huaihua, or a few other Hunan cities. I took a bus from Zhangjiajie that was about 3.5 hours long.

rachelmeetschina's avatarRachel Meets China

Guizhou is a beautiful province in Southern China. Bordered by Sichuan to the north, Guangxi to the south, and Hunan to the east, it shares many similar features as other landscapes in the south of China, including karst mountains, rice terraces, and waterfalls. Over 90% of the province is said to be covered by mountains and hills, which is quite incredible!

I recently took my first trip to Guizhou as part of a Travel Experience with Ctrip and the Zunyi Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism. I’ve been wanting to visit Guizhou for so long because of the beautiful scenery and also the many minority groups of people who live in this province, and was thrilled to have the opportunity to go on this Travel Experience.
