Beer, Beer and More Beer!
Somebody bought Sam a couple of vouchers for a tour of the Greene King Brewery at Bury St. Edmunds, and last Saturday we decided to use them, as Sam has rather a penchant for IPA beer.
We learned that the brewery was founded by Benjamin Greene in 1799. It was taken over by his son Edward in 1836 and merged with Frederick William King’s brewery in 1887. Greene had a huge house built which stands next to the Theatre Royal to house his second wife and their 13 children (although 8 died in infancy). He made sure his employees were happy by having a community hall built next to his house which on weekends allowed them to socialise and also gave them free beer (not applicable now, as Greene King owns too many breweries)!
The tour guide was very informative. The brewery is built on 3 floors, which are all…

Paw Things#1 – Meet Happy the Puppy!
I am dog agnostic. I wish them well but I keep my distance. As a child, when a dog was around, I would sit on chair or bed with my feet up. So a fortnight back, when the lady in a pet store welcomed me with the line – ‘Here comes Mommy,’ and tried to hand me a pup, I was unnerved. Good lord, I, the mother of a pup???
Well, it was dear husband’s birthday and he and the kids really wanted a cute, cuddly, furry baby. They were all bustling with excitement, so, I couldn’t say no.
I felt I was making a mistake. Adopting a puppy was a huge, huge task! All my other plans were at risk to go awry but then I was up against three dog lovers in the family. And I didn’t want to look like some vampish, scornful lady….think Lalita Pawar!

International Lesbian Day: “A love in rebellion” recounts the first lesbian movement in Mexico

* Art activist and curator Yan María Castro shares her experience as leader of the Oikabeth group
In order to demand respect and recognition from society and the authorities, at the end of the 70s, Oikabeth, an autonomous political group of lesbians, was created.
It was the first feminist lesbian movement in Mexico, commanded by painter, manager and art curator Yan María Yaoyólotl Castro, who tired of abuse, decided to raise her voice, defend her sexual preferences and fight for her rights.
Her story and that of other women was embodied through the documentary short film A love in rebellion, which under the direction of Tania Claudia Castillo, is part of the Continuous Program of the Cuórum Morelia festival. In addition, he won the Silver Camelina in the third Sexual Diversity Program + Morelia.
For 14 minutes, Yan María remembers the beginning of the group, how she organized with other women…

International Lesbian Day: A lesbian athlete wore rainbow sneakers while competing in a country where being homosexual is illegal

While competing in Qatar at the IAAF World Athletics Championships, U.S. competitor Erica Bougard made an impression and a subtle statement by wearing Nike shoes with rainbow flaps over their laces.
Bougard, who is an out athlete competing in the heptathlon — an event made up of seven track-and-field events — says she wasn’t trying to make a statement even though Qatar punishes homosexuality with seven years imprisonment and even death (though no known executions for being gay have ever officially occurred in the country).

Chile: graffiti identifies lesbian family home
Aqui viven lesbianas – lesbians live here
The Homosexual Integration and Liberation Movement (Movilh) denounced that on Sunday a lesboparental couple was the victim of an attack in the commune of Maipú, after the gate of their house was newly graffitied with the phrase “here live lesbians”.
In this regard, the spokeswoman for Movilh, Daniela Andrade, explained that the victims “have lived at the same address for two years without any discrimination problems with neighbours.”
“It is precisely this situation that has the family very frightened. They have no idea who could be responsible for this attack which leaves them very vulnerable and frightened because it is clear that there are people who have been watching.

Night or day, Sydney, Australia is beautiful and fascinating. For one thing, their Art Gallery of New South Wales is fabulous!
I love this statue — I think it’s a Jeff Koons, but am not sure — anyone out there know?
Our vacation began with New Zealand’s beautiful Auckland / Rotorua / Redwoods / Huka Falls / Craters of the Moon / Waitomo Glowworms Caves / Taupo / Pirongia / and Hamilton Gardens. In Australia, we met terrific family in Gold Coast / observed these exciting birds — and these too / hiked breathtaking views / enjoyed delicious eats at the beach / saw some wild things and cute things at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary / had fun with Rita Rigby / enjoyed a bit of the beauty and beasts of Brisbane / and then we got to…

When the water is really calm, the Love Sign is reflected in the water

The mural of the grey man is rather famous and probaly does not deserve advertisement on his bum. The man climbing throug a wall depicts the struggle of migrants trying to make their way to Europe and he emerges on a wall in Sapri in Italy.

The cat statue was originally meant as a blank canvas for other artists to use.
