Without Condition A Novel By Sonora Taylor
What is it about the horror genre that lends to stories about serial killers. Is it the horrific things that some serial killers do? Or is it the idea that there is someone out there that doesn’t have the same respect or empathy for human life that the rest of society “should” have. I have read quite a bit of true crime and horror about serial killers. But….it is very rare to read a story about a female serial killer. Which is why I was so happy to read Without Condition by Sonora Taylor.

Synopsis: Coming of age story with a murderous twist.
What I liked: I really appreciated the multifaceted way that Cara was written. She was well written and three dimensional. She may have been a serial killer but there was a lot more to her. There was some many different sides to her character. I appreciated Cara’s…

Another #IndieAthon done

IndieAthon is done for another year. I got further through that rather spontaneous TBR pile than I expected, reading:
- Common Murder (Val McDermid)
- An Honourable Estate: being memoirs by Clorinda Cathcart (L. A. Hall)
- The 12.30 fromCroydon (Freeman Wills Crofts)
- Family Roundabout (Richmal Crompton)
I also read, but have still to write up:
- Love/War (Ebba Witt-Brattström, translated by Kate Lambert)
- Go The Way Your Blood Beats: on truth, bisexuality and desire (Michael Amherst)
- Smash All The Windows (Jane Davis)
That makes a book for each day of the readathon week, which isn’t bad going.
I will note that those boots let me down, and the water in, during a rainy but pleasant short break in Lille. I’ll have to save them for dry days in future.
And finally, the UK Amazon store has the paperback edition of A Spoke In The Wheel marked down by 40% at present. I’ve…

Prayer for healing
We come to
this place
Raw with
pain, riddled with anxiety
We come to
this place
Hoping and
praying
We come to
this place
Lonely and
alone
We come to
this place
Full of
sickness and loathing
We come to
this place
Ill and
forlorn
We come to
this place
In
desperation, in fear
We come to
this place
So far from
our homes
We come to
this place
What shall
it cost us?
The answer
never ours to know.
We come to
this place
Searching
for wholeness
We come to
this place
Knowing we might not leave
We come to
this place
Remember our
faces, our stories
We come to
this place
We come
Let peace
fill us now
Compassion, be our touch-stone
We come to
this place
Let healing
begin
What do you See? March 12, 2019 – The Valiant Knight, The Sleeping Dragon.

Image: Alarie Tano
There’s a knight at night upon a bridge
Below sleeps the dreaded dragon.
The knight is on a mission
Being valiant is his goal
To rescue some maiden
To set the world aright.
The dragon will prove his nemesis
It will thwart his every move
Nothing will come easy
It’s the path he has chosen.
As it’s the plight of the dragon
To be life’s obstacle
Growling and roaring;
Showing him the error of his ways.
In the end, the dragon loses,
At least it seems the way of it.
The knight is victorious
He has stories told about him
And becomes the source of legend.
Around him, he is cheered
And while the adulation happens
The dragon goes back to sleeping
His role in this complete.

Sunday Stills: Show Us Something #Green
How important is humility?
We live in a world where being arrogant is praised, people don’t know how to be humble. Humble people are seen as weak, not goal oriented. How important is humility? On a scale from 0 to 10, I would personally say 11. Being humble is one of the important quality to develop as well. Being humble open your heart for compassion, being humble open your mind to learn more and acquire more knowledge. Be humble

Things you have to understand about humility
Humble people are easily teachable, although they might have all the money in the world they are always ready to learn new things and improve on what they know. Humility precedes glory, there is no glory without humility. You know nothing about amazing grace and unfailing love from God if you think everything you have you deserve it. You are not more human than anyone else just because of…

Here’s a sunrise from a number of years ago…

As my wife and I were in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, I decided to take the opportunity to get some early morning photography of the battlefields, before tourists would descend upon the locale. The power of these locations around dawn is palpable and left a deep impression on me.
The following were this week’s participants in the challenge with links to their posts:
- We start with another wonderul…
