We’re all guilty. A thought forms, generating an urge to start something. Perhaps I should write a few words in my diary, run the dishwasher, or exercise. But I hesitate. The couch is comfy. Besides I don’t feel like writing, I’m not inspired, and my journal is in the next room. The dishes can wait for another commercial break, and didn’t the weather forecast call for rain? A must-see episode is starting, so I’ll settle in, stay warm, and nothing awful will happen.
The problem is nothing good will happen either. You won’t advance towards your cherished dreams, inspiration and opportunities won’t be knocking on your door, and your dignity will disappear into a dark basement corner. It’s not your fault. It is your brain’s primal impulse for survival. When you pause, your brain senses uncertainty and fear and creates reasons…

I don’t travel a lot (or ever really) and unfortunately I don’t see that changing this year but one of the great things about movies is the fantasy of going somewhere you’ve never been. And it doesn’t just mean space or Middle Earth.
There are some great movies that are like taking fun filled vacations for far less money.

Working on project deadlines, while keeping current on the normal everyday grind, means hours turn into days of sitting in front of computer screens. Headphones stream my favorite music to keep me centered as I flip from one screen to the other, and words fill the page. Mandatory conference calls and essential webinars punch holes in a tight schedule. I download files, manipulate, massage, update, and verify before I push them to the end-user.
The room rocks, the thunder rolls, and the reason for the room’s darkness slowly dawns on me. They predicted late morning thunderstorms, with clearing skies and moderate afternoon temperatures. Pulled from the fog, I realized my body is stiff from sitting. My shoulders ache from tension, and I decide other people’s deadlines must wait.
Outside, the world smells fresh and clean. The sun sparkles, and the breeze shakes raindrops from tree leaves. The pressures disappear, I…

Right now, I should be happily strolling around Beijing and Shanghai – learning about our cultural differences, exploring cityscapes, and finally savoring the fruits of a year’s worth of workload.
But I’m not. Instead, here I am at home, writing all these predicaments. Corona virus pandemic has changed everything that we so long planned for this year. Everything.
However, this is not actually the first time that I get to cancel an international trip. Like most travelers, I have been long itching to visit other places outside the Philippines – to learn, gain more experiences, and understand our diversity. But fate has always been against me, always on the opposing side.
My first attempt to travel abroad was way back 2015. My colleagues and I were bound for Singapore and Malaysia – yes, a cross-country overland journey. It was scheduled after our ten-day…

Lost, Here all the Time…
For days now, the winds of this life have left me wanting…searching…lost…and forgotten.
Satisfaction is elusive in a very real sense,
My thoughts, they deceive me.
What is fact and what is fiction,
They are all scrambled one upon another, what to do.
I have lost my way, a ship at sea with no captain, no sail
Oh God of heaven and earth, lead me back to you.
I need what only you can give, forgiveness and acceptance
Only you can love me, though undeserving I am…
Your unconditional love will free me from myself
Please, I beg…take these burdens, teach me your ways.
My ways are weak and cause great pain
I ache and yearn for what this world can give.
Alas, it does not sustain me and it pleasures in my pain,
Take those empty dreams and broken promises.
Fill me with Your…
