Poetry Night

So welcome to the first “poetry night” post, quite an event 😉. I am a huge fan of audio books, and I have wanted to make more audio stories for the blog, but a long story can be quite challenging to record. You say something wrong/ the sound isn’t great, you need to start over … and then over again… and over again. So I thought why not record a poem, or like I sometimes call it; “a really, really short story” 😊. I have figured out that I do tend to write poems that I feel are the beginning of a story or like a “glimpse” into a story.

In this “poetry night” post (no idea why I chose that name, kind of remind me of a stand-up show only with poetry 😉 ) I have recorded myself reading three of my poems and played some simple melodies and…

What do you do when you get to nowhere?

I’ve had weird phrases running through my head all week. I have no idea why these phrases are popping in and out. Perhaps my brain is overloaded with too many points. If only I could have a full brain that could help me predict the lottery numbers. Alas, that is not the case. And probably so for the super majority of the world.

Now, on top of everything else I’ve got the phrase “bridge to nowhere” running through my head. I was just talking earlier today about serving as a bridge – an intermediary of sorts- between two very angry people who dislike one another. I don’t like being the go-between. Nor do I like being the bridger. If certain people don’t like each other, I am not too sure why we need to force the issue. Nor everyone has to be be be liked by everyone. Actually, that is…

Family history travels

Anne Young's avatarAnne's Family History

Our holiday in Britain took us away from home for 40 days.

We flew 21,000 miles to London and back.

In our trip from Land’s End to John o’Groats and many places between we drove more than 4,200 miles.

We visited:

  • 23 National Trust properties
  • 8 cathedrals
  • 15 other churches and abbeys (at least)
  • 50 other places of significance (at least)
  • 45 places directly associated with our family history
  • 10 major art galleries

I took 8,946 photographs and bought 13.8 kg of guide books.

I met thirteen of my cousins.

Most of our trip went to plan, though I am sad to say that I got the date wrong and missed seeing some of my relatives at Henley on Thames. This was my fault entirely.

The preparation I did in researching places and the associated family history was invaluable.  Over the coming months I will write up our travels in…

TheEuphoricZat's avatarTheEuphoricZat

Hello and welcome!!!

So recently I celebrated my 22nd birthday and I have just been thinking a lot about the things I have learnt so far and I got the idea to do this post.

All our experiences are different and no one’s story to me is better or worse than the other. The shit is just different.

Let’s get into it:

1. Some people are put in your life for you to remove them from it

2. Not everyone who claims to be your friend truly is

3. Do what you like, fuck others, people will always have an opinion

4. It’s okay to be sick, just treat it

5. Not everyone in ironed clothes have stable mental health

6. Living with a mental disorder is hard

7. Humans change back and forth while never moving from one position

8. It’s okay to have little

9. It’s okay to…
